Today, Danshari is so fed up.
What’s the point? Of anything?
He feels tired and discouraged. Nothing is interesting.
He doesn’t want to go for a walk or read a book or play a game.
He just wants to go to sleep for ever.
Why doesn’t something good happen? Something nice.
He goes into the kitchen, but he can’t even be bothered to make a cup of tea.
Yūgen can see something has to be done.
“How about a nice cup of cocoa?”, she coaxes, enticingly. “What would you like? I can make it with whipped cream, and with sprinkles. I can put some marshmallows in, and maybe a little bit of coffee syrup. What do you fancy, Danshari?”
The prospect of this penetrates his silence. It does sound good.
“Oh . . . “ says Danshari . . . “make me one with everything.”
*He’s finally seen the light!* Yūgen thinks.
She makes her magic. And the cup of cocoa — well, it does taste delicious —
— and somehow everything feels a little bit brighter after that.
